While I was preparing to style a photo shoot at RM Champagne Salon in Chicago’s West Loop I became obsessed with having particular items to give this special Parisian picturesque patio a certain boho, 70’s gypset traveler secret hang out mood and look. Below is just a minor sneak peak of one of the photos from the shoot, which the very talented Maria Ponce Berre shot, but this article is more about my post-shoot obsession of cool suitcases. I snatched the below suitcases from my boyfriend’s neighbor, they sit in her apartment and I needed old luggage or steam trunks in this shoot (As a stylist sometimes you cannot get a certain look out of your head, you just have an idea of how you want it to look, then you search and obtain items until you make it come to life in the photos). Alas I sat this very handsome gent on these vintage pieces and voila- a photo to swoon over. Now poses the problem of returning the suitcases to le neighbor… hmmm… but I fell in love with them… do I really need to give them back? Fine. I did. BUT now my quest for cool luggage marches on. Below are some of my favs, including StreamLine Luggage with a collab by Kate Spade and their “stylist series” which now has been placed on my ever growing wish-list with my new fashionable accessory- the suitcase.
